3 Things every designer needs on their website…

What is something every freelancer and business owner needs in order for their business to succeed? A website that shows their work at its best! In fact, 75% of consumers admit to making judgments about a company’s credibility based on their website design. 75%! That’s why having a great website that converts visitors into clients is what separates a successful business from all of the other competitors.

But what exactly needs to be featured on a website to make it convert?

Let's break down the 3 key ways to success that every designer needs on their website:

About page.

Did you know an about page is one of the most viewed pages on your website? Crazy right?! This is a great place for you to start to build connections with your site visitors by helping them get to know you on a personal level.

One of the first items your about page should feature is your face! People have a strong desire to connect with other people, not faceless brands.

From there, you’ll want to include information about your business and your unique identity. This section is where you share what you do, why you started your business, who you want to help with your services, and what sets you apart from your competitors in the market.

Unsure of how to write your about page? Share a story about a typical pain point your clients experience and how you go above and beyond to solve it.

Lastly, your about page should feature a call-to-action. Now that your website visitor has learned more about you, direct them to where they should visit next on your site. If you want them to book a consultation, direct them to your contact page to book. If you want them to learn more about your service offerings, then direct them to your services page. But have a call to action! Visitors require clear direction for easy actions.

Clear and detailed services page.

The more you tailor your services page to your ideal client, the better to attract the people you want to work with. This page should include a clear and detailed section explaining your range of services, processes, and pricing (if you choose to disclose this information).

After providing an overview of your services, highlight the benefits potential clients can experience after hiring you. Don't forget to reserve a spot on your services page for testimonials. Testimonials build trust, credibility and increase the level of confidence needed to make a purchase.

Lastly, if you’d like your visitors to schedule a consultation with you, add a form or bookings calendar that invites them to do so. Once again, this makes your visitor's next steps clear.

Blog.

Want to be seen as the go-to expert in your niche? A great way to do so is to include free education pieces that bring value to your audience in the form of a blog.

63% of consumers said they’d think more positively of a brand if it gave them content that was more valuable, interesting and relevant.

If you don’t know what topics your blog should cover, think about anything you wish your clients knew before they work with you. Is there anything you are teaching to your clients over and over again? Brain dump a list here and you have your blog ideas mapped out!

Blogs also have an impact on your SEO. When you optimize your blog content, it’ll be easier for clients to do a Google search and find out about you.

Finally, don’t finish your website and forget about it. It’s important for you to continually update your website. In fact, Google takes notice when you make changes to your website. If you are leaving your website stagnant, then your Google ranking will drop. Now get your website into grade A shape!
